At Casca, we believe that footwear is a tool to improve everyday life. At the core, our work is about progress – innovating and advancing towards a better future for all. We’re inspired by change makers – individuals who seek to better our communities. From innovators and creatives, to busy parents and entrepreneurs, our aim is to create a connection, to highlight their stories and the positive impact they’re bringing to their communities, however big or small.
We've asked some of our favourite creators to give us a little more insight into what they're striving towards right now and in the future.

1. Any projects or plans you're working on and excited about?
I’m in the process of expanding my portfolio! I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many incredible brands, including Casca which I am so grateful for.
2. Watching / Reading / Listening - what’s on your radar and inspiring you?
I’ve been really gripped by Robin Wall Kimmerer’s book ‘Braiding Sweetgrass’. It’s a tremendously profound read about our connection to nature and the importance of including Indigenous traditional knowledge in our collective path forward. It has really changed my relationship with nature and consumerism and how to be a better steward to the land that I am so privileged to live on.
3. What does your typical day look like?
Because I’m self-employed everyday usually looks a bit different. On a day that I’m not just answering emails all day, I’m usually creating content. Whether that be for Instagram, YouTube or TikTok. I really love being able to get creative with my days and have so much fun shooting beautiful imagery or making short videos.

4. What major goals/milestones do you want to achieve in the next 5 years?
Within the next 5 years, I really hope to be able to find a tie between creating content and working with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) which is what my academic background is in. I’d really love to find a way to bridge fashion/lifestyle and map-making in a meaningful way!
5. What’s one crazy idea or invention you think would make the world a better place?
I think if we ever want to tackle the on-going climate crisis, it is imperative we listen to and respect Indigenous peoples law globally! I think that would make the world a much better place.
6. Name one local or global issue you want to impact in your lifetime and why?
Something that has always been important to me and will continue to be is advocating for and amplifying the voices of the Indigenous communities whose land I currently living on. I want to push my local government to respect Indigenous law and stewardship because they are the only group whose guidance and leadership can help us through our climate crisis. Being aware and making others aware of the land they visit or reside on is very important to me! This beautiful beach I shot on with Casca is the traditional territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən and WSÁNEĆ peoples.

We're coming up on our one year anniversary of launching our clean beauty brand, Saltyface.
2. Watching / Reading / Listening - what’s on your radar and inspiring you?
Life is busy these days, more than listening for inspiration I've been writing. Journaling really helps me process and have more mental clarity.
3. What does your typical day look like?
A total balancing act of work and children. We live in the city so we walk & bike a lot between the beach, park, office, grocery store - it's a happy chaos right now.

4. What major goals/milestones do you want to achieve in the next 5 years?
I have lots of business goals for the next 5 years. But the main milestone I'm looking forward to is my kids growing up in their own strong people. In 5 years they will be 9 & 12, who they are becoming and what they
value is so important to me.
5. What’s one crazy idea or invention you think would make the world a better place?
This is a hard one, I can think of a lot more inventions we could eliminate from our world to make it a better place and the best place to start, I suppose, is eliminating things or habits from our own lives what isn't making us the person we want to be.
6. Name one local or global issue you want to impact in your lifetime and why?
There is a lot of global brokenness that is close to my heart. But I'll speak to sustainability here - I would love to play a role in the efforts to clean up our oceans and repurpose that waste in the beauty industry.

Occupation: Art Director, Photographer, Model
Location: Brooklyn, NY
What’s happening today?
1. Any projects or plans you're working on and excited about?
I have a few upcoming shoots where my image will be placed in stores and am in the process of developing the marketing and creative strategy for the interior design studio I consult for- both very exciting!
2. Watching / Reading / Listening - what’s on your radar and inspiring you.
I just finished reading Between Two Kingdoms: A Memoir of a Life Interrupted which was a beautiful story written by Suleika Jaouad. Lately I have been listening to a lot of Kings of Leon, Nick Mulvey, and Vance Joy. And I just watched Naomi Osaka’s documentary on Netflix, which was a great watch. I was a competitive tennis player for many years so it was fascinating for me to get some insight into the life of an elite player.
3. What does your typical day look like?
No two days are the same in my life, which I absolutely love. Most days I wake up, go to the café down the street and grab a Matcha, then come home and catch up on emails for an hour before I start making breakfast. Then the next few hours just depend on what I am working on at the time. I could be shooting a project, doing some of my freelance consulting work, or just enjoying the afternoon with friends. I typically go the gym in the evening and then cook dinner at home for myself and a few of my friends.

4. What major goals/milestones do you want to achieve in the next 5 years?
I want to learn a new language, live in Europe and buy a house in the next 5 years.
5. What’s one crazy idea or invention you think would make the world a better place?
If we could figure out how to use the abundance of wealth and resources we have to combat poverty and climate change instead of investing billions of dollars into space travel, perhaps the world would be a better place.
6. Name one local or global issue you want to impact in your lifetime and why?
I would love to help end the stigma revolving those struggling with mental illness and addiction, and create an organization that provides solutions, opportunities and support for the individuals struggling and their families. I am also passionate about helping the homeless population, so would love to incorporate aid for those individuals as well.
