At Casca, questioning the status quo has always been at the core of our values.
When we officially launched our business in November 2019, we could have never imagined the challenges and change 2020 would bring. Not only for our team, our customers, and our community but for the entire world.
As we watched the recent turn of events in the United States, we were deeply moved to find ways to take action. How could we as a small brand in Vancouver take the necessary steps towards impacting change? It was also important for us to recognize that this wasn’t an “American problem”, and that there are issues that exist and need to be addressed here in Canada.
At Casca, we believe that opening ourselves to diverse perspectives is the only way to move towards progress.
With that in mind, we are excited to announce a new series we are launching, aptly titled “A Lot to Learn”.
We will be highlighting and interviewing people from diverse backgrounds with the purpose of sharing and learning about key issues we are facing in the world.
Through discomfort comes growth, and by having these conversations we will be looking to challenge our own conventions, and better understand the perspectives developed through different lived experiences.
“A lot to learn” will allow us to discuss topics and ask the questions that make us feel uncomfortable. From this series, our goal is to learn, to listen, and to help share different perspectives so we can show up as ally’s that take action.
As we are always learning and growing, we anticipate the same from this series. If you have specific questions you want answered, ideas for what topic we should focus on next, or have your own opinions that you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you. Together we can move forward, and at the end of the day, we all have a lot to learn.
